What do we do?


Welcome to Ang Mo Kio Secondary School Red Cross Youth Society's Blog!


What we do in Red Cross?

Our trainings are every Tuesday from 2;30pm - 6pm (usually it will end earlier)
*Only for certain events, we will then need to have extra trainings.

Our First Aiders are trained on First Aid, Disaster Management, Footdrill, Outdoor Activities and Red Cross Knowledge. Do scroll down for more information about the individual specializations.

First Aid

With impartiality and diligence, we serve humanity with confidence and pride. With dedication and compassion, we guide our learners to be steadfast in both knowledge and skills. We, as First Aid Specialists, will ignite the passion to help the sick and the suffering, with Kindness, Firmness and Patience!

Our cadets will be required to attend a 3 Day Standard First Aid Course (SFA) conducted by Singapore Red Cross (SRC) or either the National First Aid Council (NFAC) where they will learn how to treat choking, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and more. Afterwards they will attain their  first aid certificates at the end of the three day course if they do pass the exam.

Also, we have participated in annually National First Aid Competition (NFAC) held by Red Cross's NFAC Committe, where we will compete with various schools including some to name, Raffles Institution, Cedar Girls, Compassvale Secondary, Northbrooks Secondary and etc.


Disaster Management (New Syllabus)

We are trained on how to react during a disaster. This includes Psychological First Aid. There are three modules in Disaster Mangement, namely, Bronze Silver and Gold.

In Bronze, Cadets will be able to attend workshops and training(s) to learn how to prepare a 'Go' Bag, Basic Radio Communication (Foundation), Casualty Transportation (Foundation) and etc.

In Silver, they will learn Basic Radio Communication (Formative), Field Signals, and Casualty Transportation (Formative); where they will learn how to open a stretcher and also stretcher drills and etc.

In Gold, they will learn Psychological First Aid & Supportive Communication, Safety, Security & Preparing For Deployment and etc.


Red Cross Knowledge

Through Red Cross Knowledge, cadets will be able to learn about Red Cross's History and it's founding. Cadets are also expected to learn the fundamental principles of Red Cross and its services. 

Footdrill (Foundation)


We, as Foot Drill Specialists of the Singapore Red Cross Youth, Pledge that we will uphold the discipline In both bearing and standards. We command with confidence and execute with precision We persevere and overcome adversity as one. We will instruct and inspire!

Footdrill allows one to be disciplined. We will learn how to do basic drills (e.g Falling In, Saluting, Marching, the Theory Of Commanding and etc.) Our CCA also takes part in the annually National Day Parade (NDP) where they will don on their uniforms to take part in the parade.

Outdoor Activities (Foundation)


In the face of challenges, We dare to set new directions and forge new trails into the unknown. With our thirst for adventure, We endeavor to expand our horizons and strive to bring our team to brave all odds. We, the Outdoor Activities Specialists, will embody the spirit of tenacity and discovery. Always ready to share!

In Outdoor Activities, we are taught of the importance of Outdoor Activities, Outdoor Cooking, Map Reading and also Gadget Making.



Red Cross also participates in First Aid Duties, National Activities and Values In Action (VIA).

CCA Open House 2015

CCA Open House 2015

Venue: Ang Mo Kio Secondary School Foyer
Date: 10th Jan 2015
Time: 8 - 1pm

We will opening booths for the various specifications and we will be performing a small skit at the Parade Square.

For students or parents interested in know more about Ang Mo Kio Red Cross Youth, you can look up to any NCOs, Seniors or Teachers-In-Charge.

Series Of Events

We apologize for the lack of updates! From now onwards, we will update this blog regularly. 
A series of events have happened ever since the last update of our blog so.... 

Firstly, We like to thank our Youth Officer Ms Lim Mui Huan for the contribution towards the unit over the years. We wish her all the best!
Secondly, We have another new Teacher In Charge joining the unit, which is Mr Ashik known as Mr A. We hope that he will enjoy being the TIC for our unit. 
Thirdly, The AMKsian Showcase was held on the 22 November. 
Fourthly, A VIA Trip to Batam was held on the 26 to 28 November. 

There is also an upcoming Unit Outing on the 11 December. The venue is TBC. We will keep you updated.

We would like to cordially invite all Parents,
Volunteer Instructors, Seniors and Uniformed Groups
to our Passing Out Parade 2014.

Time: 10.45am - 12pm
Venue: AMKSS Parade Square
Date: 12 April 2014

The Passing Out Parade is a parade whereby we recognize the contributions of the Secondary 4s (NCOs), to witness the taking over of the Secondary 3s (Future NCOs) and also the promotion of the current Secondary 2s and 1s. 

We hope to see you there! 



Awards & Promotion Ceremony 2014

Recently, a few of our NCOs went down to Compassvale Secondary where the Awards & Promotion Ceremony was held at. Thank you all for putting in your hardwork so that we could have attained GOLD for both EUA & CSA!

Results Of 2014 First Aid Competition!

We are pleased to announce that we are the Champion In Zone in the First Aid Competition (Prelims) and we are also the 1st Runner Up In the First Aid Competition (Finals). We would like to thank our FAC team especially Lilian and Xin Yu for the hard work that they have put in. Our Teacher-In-Charge for supporting us and also our VIs who have taught us and improved our first aid. We would not be able to attain 1st Runner Up if it were not for their hard work. We would also like to thank the seniors who came down to support us! Thankyou!
