AMKSS Red Cross Youth establishes a strong platform for us to unleash our leadership skills and also focuses a lot on discipline and endurance. We aim to uphold our motto “Serve one another” by incalcating the “One for All, All for One” team spirit in us. We believe in giving back, and in the process, gaining experience and knowledge. We aim to instill the 7 fundamental principles of the Red Cross Movement – Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality, in our cadets.
Apart from being trained in first aid, we are also trained in other aspects such as Footdrill, Casualty Evacuation, Outdoor Activities, Total Defence courses and the Red Cross Values. We have Fund Raising Events to help to raise money for other works of the Singapore Red Cross Society and organise activities for the elderly and foster children on a yearly basis.
Every year, cadets are exposed to a wide range of activities, competitions and leadership camps. Leadership camps such as the AMKSS Annual Passing-Out-Parade Camp, AMKSS Red Cross Youth Annual Camp, Unit Instructors’ Programme, Unit Leaders’ Programme and the Red Cross Youth Challenge, are where cadets are trained in their communication skills, leadership skills and other useful skills in life. We have broadened our experience by going for the Singapore’s National Day Parade, Singapore Youth Festival and other Head-Quarter Level projects. To further challenge ourselves, we took part in competitions such as Footdrill Competition, First Aid Competition, Arts Festival and Current Affairs Competition.
Our school’s Red Cross Youth cadets not only work well as a team, but excel as individuals too. The Red Cross Youth cadets are allowed to take up different roles and responsibilities so as to maximise their potential and grow up into accomplished individuals with fine leadership qualities.
